Plot of God Of War
Kratos was a Captain in the Spartan in the army and after many victories, found himself facing defeat and on the brink of death. In desperation, he calls to the God Of War, Ares, and pledges servitude to him if Ares helps him to win this battle. Ares grants Kratos’s wish and bonds the Blades Of Chaos to him. Kratos uses them to win the battle and goes on to wage war across all of Greece.
Ares plans to make Kratos the perfect warrior and hides Kratos’s wife and child in a village that Kratos is about to attack. Kratos accidentally kills his wife and child, and, rather than becoming the perfect warrior, Kratos renounces his servitude to Ares. The oracle of the village that Kratos has destroyed curses Kratos and the ashes of his wife and child stick to his skin, turning it white.
Kratos is plagued by the consequences of his mistake and eventually is able to summon the goddess Athena who agress that if he can kill the god of war Ares, he will be forgiven for killing his family.
Kratos is taken to Athens by the goddess Athena where he fights his way to Athens oracle. The oracle is able to tell him that to defeat Ares he must find Pandora’s box which will give him the power to kill a god.
Kratos travels to the Desert of Lost Souls and summons the Temple of Pandora. Again he fights his way through the temple and finds Pandora’s box. However, when he is leaving the temple, Ares kills him and Pandora’s box is taken to Ares. Kratos descneds into the Underworld where, with help, he is able to fight his way out. Athena is not the only god helping him.
Kratos returns to Athens and re-acquires Pandora’s box from Ares, using its power to become god-like. He battles with Ares, who strips him of the Blades of Chaos. Kratos survives and kills Ares with the Blade of the Gods.
Athena keeps her word and Kratos is forgiven, but he is not freed from his nightmares and Kratos attempts to kill himself. Athena saves him and takes him to Mount Olympus where, in thanks for his services, Athena gives him Athena’s Blades and Kratos becomes the new God of War.
